We are located in Talkeetna, Alaska (pop. 400),110 miles north of Anchorage by car and 60 miles east of the summit of Mt. McKinley.

The history of Talkeetna Air Taxi (TAT) reaches back over 50 years to the pioneers of glacier flying. Let us show you one of the world's most spectacular and remote mountain ranges. Our pilots and staff are Alaskans and they enjoy sharing their stories and appreciation of the land.

Our History
Talkeetna Air Service, the original flying service of Talkeetna, was founded in 1947 by Don Sheldon, the pioneer of McKinley high altitude glacier landings. The story of Sheldon and his daring rescues of climbers on the mountain has attracted people to Talkeetna for decades. Several other aviators well known in the industry and throughout Alaska have owned Talkeetna Air Taxi including Lowell Thomas Jr., former lieutenant governor of Alaska and son of the famous radio broadcaster. Over fifty years later, we continue to lead the way exploring Denali National Park. Paul Roderick, Chief Pilot and owner is a climber with experience on McKinley and other peaks in the region giving him first hand knowledge of the area.
