Olivia's at the Skagway Inn is a fine dining restaurant that is locally recognized as offering one of the best dining experiences in Southeast Alaska. We use the finest and freshest ingredients including troll caught King Salmon and other fresh seafood and local organic, sometimes exotic, produce.

For the year 2000 summer season Olivia's Restaurant has produced a gourmet garden and cooking demonstration tour. The duration of the tour is 3 hours and will include the following:

1. Transportation to Jewell Gardens, a 1.3 acre established floral and produce show garden. (1/2 hour) Transfer includes a historical narrative down Broadway through Skagway's historic district including information about the foods & gardens of the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898.

2. Stroll through and see the Jewell Gardens through the eyes and hands of two local gardening authorities (one for each group of twenty participants). Charlotte Jewell owner and twenty five year Alaskan Resident of the garden and Sarah will provide the historical interpretation and significance of the site, and relate how gardens have played a role in our local history. Ever wonder how Skagway could have a red-light district with continuous daylight for much of the summer? Charlotte has the answer. Guests receive packet of Alaskan seeds for growing at home. While in the gardens, participants will be encouraged to identify and harvest edible flowers and plants for use in the cooking demonstration portion of the tour. (30 min).

3. Transportation to Olivia's at the Skagway Inn Restaurant. (20 min)

4. Lecture and cooking demonstration and three course lunch or dinner, complimentary glass of wine. Lecturers are qualified Chef's or advanced culinary arts students (90 min).
